Axel Kicillof: comfortable re-election and few changes

Axel Kicillof and his team arrived at the Government bunker in Chacarita a little after 4 p.m. They were confident: the numbers they had indicated that they were on their way to coming out first. But not even the most optimistic imagined getting more than 45% of the votes, just 5% below the 2019 elections.

“Axel had been working for this,” said one of his collaborators in the bunker. The reading of the elections is more than optimistic: Union for the Homeland regained control from several municipalities and fought vote by vote for that of The Silver, a strategic enclave. In addition, La Cámpora achieved a historic election: Quilmes, Suipacha, Mercedes, Hurlingham, Colón, Carmen de Areco, Bransen, Lanús, Rosales Bahía, Olavarría and Azul will go to Máximo Kirchner’s space.

“There is still something key missing to know what Axel’s second term will be like: to see if Sergio wins or if Milei wins. It would change a lot,” says another man on the re-elected governor’s team. “But the idea is to deepen the work that is already being done,” he says, and rules out big changes for the company. Kicillof’s second term. Everything will depend on what happens on November 19.
