AXA advances an ere on its 2,200 workers, with the Cornellà center in suspense

the insurer Axa has started an employment regulation file (YOU ARE) with which it intends to fire part of its workforce, out of a total of 2,237 workers throughout Spain. The company has not specified the total number of potential dismissals and next week it will formally communicate it to the legal representation of the workers. It is the third collective dismissal implemented by the company in the last five years and in the file closed last December, the 106 peopleaccording to company sources.

The restructuring will be focused on the general insurance division and may affect the CornellaSeville, Palma de Mallorca, Tenerife, Vigo, Madrid, Bilbao and Valencia, as denounced CCOO it’s a statement. In the case of the office located in Catalonia, around 700 people are employed there, according to union sources, and the affectation has not yet been detailed.

The workforce adjustment will have layoffs on the one hand and relocations of employees in other work centers of the same company. As well as a substantial modification of working conditions, which the company has not yet delivered. Union sources consulted express their “surprise” at the company’s decision and explain that “we have not had any prior approach” with management.

“We will sit down to negotiate the best exit conditions and that they start as the previous ones from the voluntary nature of indemnified dismissals and early retirements. We will defend the improvement of the conditions that were agreed in the previous one since the results obtained by the company in this exercise allow”, they have stated from UGT.

“Since 2018, AXA has been restructuring the workforce through various Transformation Agreements based on early retirement and incentivized terminations. All of this articulated through Collective Dismissal as legally established and with the agreement of the unions. […] Within 7 days, the parties will sit down to negotiate the conditions of this new Agreement, following the spirit of social dialogue that has always moved AXA,” the company said in a statement.
