The pinnacle of Finnish tennis Harri Heliövaara made his Kazakh counterpart Anna Danilina with a great trick and advanced to the semifinals of the mixed doubles tournament of the US Open tennis tournament.
Heliövaara, 34, and Danilina, 28, defeated the Chinese Yifan Xun and Belgian By Joran Vliegen 7–5, 7–6 (7–2).
This is Heliövaara’s first grand slam semifinal spot in his career. The last time a Finnish player was in the semi-finals of a major tournament was in 2020, when Henri Kontinen was also among the top four pairs in mixed doubles.
Heliövaara and Danilina will meet the winners of the match in the semifinals Santiago Gonzalez/Barbora Strycova–Mate Pavic/Ena Shibahara.
