One came from the bench, the other is referred to as such. Wehen Wiesbaden relies on attacker Prtajin and defender Vukotic for the away game in Düsseldorf.
On Tuesday evening there was a television evening on the program for the SVWW. Friday’s opponent, Fortuna Düsseldorf (live in the radio report from 6.30 p.m. and in the live ticker at the Sportschau), had to play in the cup at Unterhaching and showed a lot of strength despite progressing. It was only in extra time that the Rhinelanders prevailed 6-3 against the third division team. Wehen Wiesbaden had already been eliminated in the first round against Leipzig and was able to rest.
However, SVWW coach Markus Kauczinski doesn’t want to take into account a exhausted opponent: “A cup game is something different, overall I see Düsseldorf as stable, with calm on the ball and with high individual quality – a top team.” In fact, Fortuna is in second place and will probably fight for promotion this season.
Prtajin’s starting line-up is open
Wehens Emanuel Taffertshofer is not yet there on Friday, Florian Carstens is not expected back until next week. Another returnee after an injury had already made a name for himself the previous week: Ivan Prtajin headed the SVWW after coming on as a substitute against Rostock shortly before the end for a 1-0 win.
In the eyes of coach Kauczinski, it is not certain that the attacker will start right from the start in Düsseldorf. “I trust him for sixty minutes, but that doesn’t mean he’ll start.” The coach, however, praised John Iredale, who tiredly ran the opposing defense for a long time.
Praise for the defense
There are still unanswered questions in the attack, but in defense the formation is likely to remain the same. “It works, there is little reason to change,” said Kauczinski. The statistics support the impressions: After St. Pauli, Wiesbaden has the best defense in the entire league. Highlighted in the press conference was Aleksandar Vukotic, who has a rate of 70 percent won duels and was described as a “stunner” by goalkeeper Florian Stritzel.
Kauczinski didn’t want to be left behind either: “He’s acclimatized really well and is a bank for us.” The best conditions for SVWW to compete against one of the top teams in league two. Because Düsseldorf is dangerous at the front: the second strongest offense meets the second strongest defense.
