Sonja Tiggelbeck, MA and Prof. Dr. Leef H. Dierks received for their jointly written paper “Post-Rational Decision-Making: The Circularity Puzzle Revisited“ the Macrotrends Prize 2021.
According to the jury, the decisive factor for the decision is “the importance of the research results of the two Lübeck economists for improving the understanding of the investment decisions of small investors and institutional investors under uncertainty. Tiggelbeck and Dierks have impressively succeeded in ‘resolving the supposed dichotomy between rationality and emotions in investing’ and in their contribution to show ‘that the decisions of investors in reality correspond to a complex, post-rational behavioral pattern,'” says Brecht Arnaert, Chairman of the Jury of the Macrotrends Prize 2021.
Sonja Tiggelbeck, who was part of the Behavioral Economics research project with Prof. Dr. Leef H. Dierks, Professor of Finance and International Capital Markets, Department of mechanical engineering and economics, doctorate, delighted. “This award,” says Tiggelbeck, “highlights the relevance of our research and the importance of the jointly achieved results.”
The award ceremony took place last Friday, October 29, on the campus of the University of Rey Juan Carlos 5th Conference on Austrian Economics, which ended in Madrid.
