The Juno Awards show, Canada’s version of the Grammy Awards, took place on Monday (March 13) in Edmonton, Alberta. During the show, Avril Lavigne won the “Fan Choice Award”. However, her host for Indian-Canadian R&B singer AP Dhillon used a shirtless woman for a special interlude. She stormed onto the stage and presented her bare back which read “Save the Greenbelt”. The singer first tried to ignore the unexpected togetherness, but then decided to say something. “Get the fuck off, bitch,” she snapped at the woman, who was soon escorted off the stage by a security guard.

The message refers to a project by the Ontario government that is expected to create around 50,000 housing units by 2025. However, for this several thousand hectares of the so-called “Greenbelt” would have to give way: a nature reserve around the “Golden Horseshoe”, an urban area in southern Ontario, in which Toronto is also located.
Later, when Lavigne took the stage to accept her own award, she wryly commented on the incident: “Don’t even try this time.”
The night’s big winner was The Weeknd, who won a total of five awards including Artist of the Year and Album of the Year for his 2022 record Dawn FM.
Lavigne recently made headlines when it was revealed she’s kissing rapper Tyga after splitting from fiancé Mod Sun.
