In fact, it is also the moment in which, up and down the country, towns and villages they celebrate local products and autumn gastronomy with the their autumn festivals, including themed parties, markets, concerts and exhibitions. Autumn festivals, the 10 most beautiful in Italy
Taragna polenta festival
One of the most typical autumn and winter dishes of northern Italy is polenta and the taragna variety is among the tastiest. It is celebrated by the festival of the same name which is held from 27 October to 12 November in Spirano, a small village in the Bergamo area, for three weekends. Now in its ninth edition, is a tribute to this particular variety prepared following traditional recipes with mixed corn and buckwheat flours with the addition of butter and cheese. Excellent companion for salami, braised meats and mushrooms.

Fasulìn de l’öc cun le cùdeghe
Inside the ancient walls of Pizzighettone, in the province of Cremona, the Fasulìn de l’öc cun le cùdeghe is held. That is, the festival dedicated to black-eyed peas, a particularity of the place, cooked in a dish with pork rinds and tomato sauce. Added to this are also raspadüra, mustard with provolone and sburlòn, a quince-based liqueur. All on 28-29-31 October, 1 November and 4-5 November.

Polenta festival
Always for lovers of polenta, in this case classic, the dedicated festival will be held in Sant’Angelo Lodigiano on the weekends 20-21-22 and 27-28-29. The polentieri, all originally from Storo, where a particular type made with Marano wheat and ground in the town’s mill comes from, they will mix about 30 quintals of yellow flour.
This is where you can taste the polenta carbonera, mixed with mountain butter, mountain espresso, Trentingrana, salami paste, wine and pepper. Alongside, also the classic version of polenta including wild boar, braised meats, cotechini, gorgonzola, Lodi raspadüra and mushrooms.

Mushroom in celebration
For enthusiasts, the Fungo in Festa takes place. Recognized at a regional level, like the Alba Truffle Fair and the Carmagnola Pepper Festival, Fungo in Festa takes place in Giaveno, recognized as its capital. The forty-second edition will take place on October 22nd, involving the whole country, also renowned for its chocolate, bakery and honey.

National Chestnut Fair
One of the most important Italian gastronomic events is the Fiera del Marrone which is held in the historic center of Cuneo. Three days dedicated to one of the most typical fruits of the season between tastings and the discovery of other food and wine delicacies.

Sbrisolona Festival
Mantua, where it was born, pays homage to this typically Lombard dessert with a three-day celebration, from 13 to 15 October. The cake, crumbly and low, is rich in almonds and is served by breaking it into large pieces. Hence the name sbrisolona, meaning “sbrisa”, crumbles. Alongside the cake, there are also many chocolatiers with their sweet creations.

Pomaria
For apple lovers, Pomaria is the right opportunity. In the Val di Non and Val di Sole, in Trentino Alto Adige, this fruit is celebrated from 13 to 15 October. The highlight? Harvesting apple orchards. In fact, everyone will be able to collect them directly from the plants in the company of a farmer.

Porcino and Chianina festival
In the province of Pisa, in Castelfranco di Sotto to be precise, the famous Sagra del Porcino and Chianina takes place. Fresh tortelli, fresh pasta with Chianina ragù, roast beef, porcini mushroom-based dishes are among the protagonists of this festival which is held every weekend in October until 4-5 November.

International Alba White Truffle Fair
It started on October 7th and will continue until December 3rd International Alba White Truffle Fair. Two months full of events around the prized mushroom which culminates with the Alba White Truffle World Market.
