THE autumn scents 2022 focus on emotionality and give enveloping and comforting sensations: notes of coconut and jasmine, previously used mainly in summer, but also the classic hints of rain and water. This is confirmed not only by a study conducted by the L’Oréal Italia Beauty Observatory in 2021 but also the very recent The Great Book of Perfumes for an olfactory culture, published by Gribaudo. As the Nez collective, author of the manual, reveals: Italy is a real paradise for the world of fragrances.
Not only because the Italians themselves use a perfume every day, 88% women and 79% men, as L’Oréal pointed out, but also for the consequent massive presence of perfumeries in our country.
Data in hand, the book reports that they exist in Italy 130 independent perfumeries specialized in the niche and almost 300 points of sale between concept stores and shops who also sell perfumes. Not to mention the large perfume chains and department stores.
All this in spite of France which, which has always been considered the home of fragrances, has only about forty multi-brand stores. And if in the USA the fragrance is often synonymous with clean beauty with natural, fresh and clean notes, and in Eastern Europe with opulence, in Italy, emotions, dreams and in-store experiences are sought.
Water, the protagonist of the scents of autumn 2022
Starting from these considerations, the scents of autumn 2022 can only be emotional, warm and reassuring. The new J’adore Parfum d’Eau by Dior plays on the alchemy between skin and water: the alcohol-free formulation is based on an oily concentration obtained thanks to a nano-emulsion technique. Extremely sensorial, this jus is light and fresh but at the same time enveloping.
Ane Ayo, nose of the new, also played with water A drop d’Issey by Issey Miyake. The fragrance is the journey of a drop of water which, falling from the sky, wets the grass, the flowers, the wood and the earth. Captivating for the mineral component and fresh thanks to the Damask rose, the fragrance is contained in a drop-bottle that steals the shades from the water.
The olfactory flowers of autumn 2022
Autumn rediscovers its most romantic side even with flowers. In particular with jasmine, rose and tuberose. Ingredients that until now have always told about the explosion of spring, now they also brighten up the cold season with their fruity scents.
Strong Red Rose is the new Aqua Allegory by Guerlain based (obviously) on a sunburnt rose. Then, there is Alien Goddness by Thierry Mugler which has a heart of jasmine absolute and jasmine tea, enhanced by the coconut top note and a vanilla base. Totally unexpected for the fall.
As well as Gabrielle Chanel Essence by Chanelnow also available in the twist and spray format, is a riot of Grasse tuberose, ylang-ylang and orange blossom.
Enveloping notes from the Middle East
But perfumery has not forgotten the typical seasonal notes. For the collection L’Art & la Matière, Guerlain has created two new fragrances. Note in common? The enveloping and very intense oud. Oud Nude it is a soft but at the same time sensual version of the Middle Eastern note that meets vanilla and raspberry. Cherry Oud instead it is a mischievous jus full of contrasts, with the Turkish rose with a honeyed scent, the more fruity Bulgarian rose and a cherry note for an intriguing touch.
The same intrigue is also present in it L’Interdit Eau de Toilette by Givenchy with tuberose, jasmine, rock rose and musk. Without forgetting, always in its jus, the Tunisian orange blossom in the form of essence, absolute, CO2 fraction and concrete. For a floral overdose.
