Autogroep Dex expands to Northern France
“There is a consolidation in the sector going on throughout Europe,” says Joost Huys. He converted the first garage in Hooglede into a Dex branch. There are now seventeen distributors in our country, and the group also sells online. And now they are also looking across the border: “We are taking the initiative ourselves and will now also launch our successful Belgian formula in France. Together with Verbaere, we have the ambition to grow into a European player.”
Dex is no longer a small player: the company recorded almost 70 million euros in turnover last year. Because people still most often buy a car in a showroom, the group is therefore expanding. Dex has teamed up with the French group Verbaere for this. This group has 12 brands in some fifteen garages in Northern France.
“Northern France is the logical first step in our foreign expansion,” explains Joost Huys. “And in Jean-Charles Verbaere (42) we have found a partner who shares the same vision. Together we will further develop Dex as we have done in Belgium, through a network of branches. The first garage will be in Douai, where a showroom and first logistics center are currently being built.”
