The European Union will freeze the accounts of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Europe. This was announced by Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg, writes correspondent Reuters on Twitter.

At the same time, the asset freeze will not affect the ability of Putin and Lavrov to visit Europe. This is due to the fact that the EU is still seeking a diplomatic solution to the conflict, agency sources said.

Previously Bloomberg referring to two high-ranking officials, he said that EU diplomats approved a plan to impose sanctions against the Russian president and foreign minister and freeze their foreign accounts.

Information about the intention to impose such sanctions is also confirmed Forbes interlocutors and France Press. The European Union may decide to freeze accounts today, informed Financial Times, citing four sources familiar with the situation.
