“Australia’s biggest drug bust ever”: Police use fake cocaine to trap drug gang

In Australia, police used fake cocaine to entrap a gang of drug dealers. The successful mission, ‘Operation Beech’, led to twelve arrests. Agents were able to intercept 2.4 tons of cocaine with a street value of 1 billion Australian dollars (about 635 million euros). That is equivalent to half of Australia’s estimated annual consumption. The drug bust is therefore the largest ever in the country. “The operation is a clear message to international dealers: your deadly drugs are not welcome here,” said police commissioner Col Blanch.
