Australian Zac Stubblety-Cook established a new world record in the 200-meter breaststroke after winning this Thursday at the Australian Championships with a time of 2:05.95 minutes.

Stubblety-Cook, who became the first man to break the 2:06 minute barrier, lowered the previous universal record held by Russian Anton Chupkov by 17 hundredths with a time of 2:06.12 since the World Cups held in the South Korean city of Gwangju in 2019.

A time that confirmed the Australian swimmer, current Olympic champion, as the maximum favorite to hang the gold in the World Cups which will be held next June in Budapest.
