Aue takes Schreck under contract – Erzgebirge people let the purchase option expire

After loan in 2021/22

FC Erzgebirge Aue has signed Sam Schreck. As the third division announced on Saturday, the central midfielder, who was on loan last season, signed for a year with an option. The “Veilchen” could have drawn a purchase option for the 23-year-old from FC Groningen after the loan, but let this expire after relegation from the 2nd Bundesliga and are now renegotiating.

Schreck had played 26 games for Aue in 2021/22. Born in Pinneberg, he is making a permanent return to Germany after moving from Bayer Leverkusen to Groningen in 2019, where he made a total of 27 appearances. “After his loan spell last season, Sam’s prospects for FC Groningen’s first team weren’t very good. It was desirable for both parties to find a final solution to Sam’s situation. We found this solution with FC Erzgebirge Aue. We are happy with that on both sides. We would like to thank Sam very much for his commitment to FC Groningen and wish him all the best for his future career,” said FC Groningen Technical Director Mark-Jan Fledderus.
