A 47-year-old driver was seriously injured in a traffic accident on federal highway 5 in Wustermark (Havelland district).

Shortly before 11 p.m. on Sunday, an Audi driver overturned several times and landed in a meadow with his vehicle with Hanoverian license plates on the roof.

The driver was trapped in his vehicle and had to be freed by firefighters using heavy equipment.

Initially, it was assumed that there were several vehicle occupants, but this was not confirmed. The seriously injured driver received first aid on site from an emergency doctor and paramedics and was flown to a clinic in a rescue helicopter.

The vehicle was a total write-off. The contents of the vehicle were scattered on the meadow when it rolled over, including several beer bottles.

The officers secured various tracks on site and determined the cause of the accident. While the rescuers were working and the accident was being recorded, the B5 was closed for several hours.
