The setback for De Lovie does not mean that no hop shoots are offered at the REO Auction in Roeselare. This will be done by other suppliers of the delicacy.
“Fine Fleur hop shoots are a popular ingredient in the top menus of (star) restaurants during the end-of-year holidays,” says the REO Veiling.
“Fine Fleur hop shoots are a pure and natural regional product with its own incomparable taste. The fragile seasonal delicacy is also exclusive because of its labor-intensive production process and its limited availability in both time and volume. In addition, the REO Auction has been selling its Fine Fleur hop shoots with the European PGI recognition as a regional product for ten years.
Poperinge hop shoots are the very first product in West Flanders to achieve this strict European recognition, partly thanks to the REO Veiling. For these reasons, Fine Fleur hop shoots are highly sought after in gastronomy,” concludes the REO Auction.
