Attraction remains closed after accident: ‘Regret the incident’ | 1Limburg

The Fairytale Forest in Valkenburg will keep the balloon tower Calidius, where a cart a few meters high fell from the sky on Friday afternoon, closed for the foreseeable future.

“Management and staff are upset about the incident and we deeply regret that this could have happened. Our thoughts now go first and foremost to the victims and families of those involved,” says the theme park.

Nightmare
What should have been a fun day out turned into a nightmare for some visitors. Two adults and two children were in the balloon tower – a ride with spinning carts in the sky – around 2:45 p.m. when things went wrong. One of the carts broke off and fell about five to six meters. The two adults and one of the children were injured.

Research
A technical investigation by, among others, the Labor Inspectorate will have to show how this incident could have happened. The park is also conducting its own investigation. “We are currently awaiting the outcome,” said the amusement park.
