In addition to nitrous oxide cartridges, the company also suffers damage from batteries that are thrown in the waste. Think of e-bike batteries or tool batteries. If they are damaged during the collection or separation of waste, they can catch fire.
Every month Attero has at least one fire in the factory where the waste is separated, due to a battery. “That is very dangerous for our employees, and it causes a lot of damage.”
Extinguishing is not an easy task. “We have to set out the entire line. We ensure that the batteries are placed separately. It is better if people hand in the batteries properly. Then it can be recycled and it will not cause a fire for us.”
