Attention! This is why there are road plates on the Voorweg at Centrum West

You have to watch out for the Voorweg. There are road plates on the road near Centrum. Some are a bit higher, so you have a chance to crash with your bike or scooter.

The ditch at Centrum West is being dredged. A grab lifts the dirt out of the water and throws it into a waiting truck. Both vehicles must reach the ditch via the road plates.

Maybe there’s a corpse

According to a traffic controller, a lot of rubbish is being fished out of the water. “Bicycles, garbage, maybe even a corpse”, the employee jokes. “That has to be done once in a while and it will be the turn of this ditch in the coming days.”

The heavy truck and excavator cannot just cross the Voorweg. “The chance of sagging is especially high on the hill of the Irelandlaan,” the employee continues. “That is why we have installed road plates. But they are not exactly the same everywhere. This morning there were already two ladies who fell. We have put up warning signs, but not everyone reads it.”

Step off!

So with this one: be careful when you drive onto the road plate with your tire. It can be slippery or uneven so it is better to step off. The work will last until Friday.
