Attention illegal parkers! Scan cars will drive through Zoetermeer

Drivers who park illegally, watch out. Scan cars will soon be driving through the streets of Zoetermeers. By means of a digital system, cars that are parked incorrectly or have not paid are fined.

You will see the scan cars from February 1, 2024 in the paid parking areas and the blue zones. You will mainly find these places in the center of Zoetermeer.

This is how a scan car works

Scan cars take a photo of the license plates of parked cars. The scan car’s system then checks whether this license plate is registered with the National Parking Register. License plates are registered when you have paid via a parking meter or a parking app. In the event of a violation, you will receive the fine by post.

This is how it works in blue parking zones

In many places in the center of Zoetermeer you can park in a blue parking zone. You are often there for free for the first two hours. The scan car also checks at these locations how long cars have been there. If the two free parking hours have expired, you can still expect a fine.

Zoetermeer residents with a parking permit must be registered online from February 1, 2024. Paper permits behind the windshield are no longer permitted.
