In order to be able to watch all 34 games of their favorite club in the Bundesliga, football fans in Germany now have to take out several paid subscriptions. The pay-TV broadcaster “Sky” and the fee-based streaming service “DAZN” will also share the rights in the coming season and will ask their customers to pay for their subscriptions, much to the displeasure of the Bundesliga fans. Now there could soon be a compromise solution.
While “Sky” owns the TV rights for the Saturday games and the English Weeks in the German football upper house, “DAZN” exclusively broadcasts the games on Friday and Sunday.
Until recently, two separate subscriptions had to be taken out. After a recent price increase, “DAZN”, for example, now charges 299.88 euros for a twelve-month complete subscription, which corresponds to a monthly price of 24.99 euros.
The “Sky” Bundesliga subscription also costs 20.75 euros per month for annual accounts.
Combined subscription from Sky and DAZN has two hooks
As “Sky” now announced in a press release, the two providers want to launch a joint Bundesliga subscription in the future.
“Football Germany has been waiting for this offer. With this we are continuing on our path of combining the best content on one platform,” said Charly Classen, Executive Vice President Sport Sky Germany.”
In the future, it should be possible to order a complete subscription for 38.99 euros per month for the coming season. The prospect of savings of up to 156 euros per year is therefore offered to customers who have previously secured their individual Bundesliga packages month by month.
However: The new offer from “Sky” and “DAZN” is initially only valid until September 30 and is initially reserved for new customers.
In addition, neither the DFB Cup nor the English Premier League are included in the combination subscription, to which “Sky” also holds the TV rights.
