Attackers promising in the fourteenth stage with a difficult end in Mende

In the fourteenth stage of the Tour de France, the attackers will again see opportunities for the stage victory. The hilly 192.5km ride from Saint-Étienne has a tricky final just outside Mende, which is suitable for the specialists for the short, steep climb.

The ride will officially start at 12:30 PM. Before the riders have to conquer the 3 kilometer long final climb on the Côte de la Croix Neuve, there are first many short climbs, four of which are of the third category. The climb at Mende, also known as the Montée Laurent Jalabert, is even of the second category. Frenchman Jalabert won here in 1995, when the Tour first arrived there.

The stage will certainly be too difficult for the real sprinters. The finish is more suitable for climbers with a good final shot, such as the Spaniards Joaquim Rodríguez and Omar Fraile who triumphed there.

The Dane Jonas Vingegaard of Jumbo-Visma is still in yellow, his teammate Wout van Aert in the green points jersey. The mountain jersey is still in the hands of the German Simon Geschke. Slovenian Tadej Pogacar is wearing white as leader of the youth classification.
