Wimbledon winner Carlos Alcaraz got back on track at the ATP Finals – giving Alexander Zverev the chance to reach the semi-finals early. After his opening defeat against Olympic champion Zverev, the 20-year-old Spaniard won his second preliminary round match against the Russian Andrej Rublew 7:5, 6:2 on Wednesday (11/15/23) and maintained his chances of advancing in Turin.
It is also clear that Zverev can book the semi-final ticket at the ATP Finals for the fourth time on Wednesday evening (9 p.m./live ticker at sportschau.de) with a win against Daniil Medvedev.
Rublev bloody his knee in anger
Rublew has already been eliminated after two straight defeats – in the second set he was so frustrated that he hit his left leg wildly with his racket and bloodied his knee.
Zverev has only had one win against the Russian Medvedev from five duels so far this year. The Hamburger had already won the end of the season of the eight best of the year in 2018 and 2021.
