Atomic Agency wants to send team to Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant

International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) boss Rafael Grossi wants to send a team of experts to Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant. The plant is owned by the Russian army.

Grossi said Monday that there may be a threatening situation around the nuclear power plant. Sufficient new parts would not be supplied to carry out the necessary maintenance.

Ukraine has asked the IAEA to send people to the plant. “Nothing should stand in the way of this vital international mission,” said Grossi.

The Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant is the largest in Europe. The Russians quickly took control of the plant.
