Those who prefer to walk the Dam tot Damloop in the dark could indulge themselves last night. Between 7:45 PM and 10:30 PM, thousands of participants ran the five English miles and that was a lot of hardship for many. A few only use the tour as a ‘warm-up’ for today.
“It took me 36 minutes. I’m satisfied. It’s very atmospheric and there are many people who encourage you. I had a really good run,” says a participant who just crossed the finish line.
Moments later, two friends stumble across the finish line arm in arm: “The atmosphere was pleasant, but we thought it was tough. We’re going to drink beer now”, they exclaim. A group of ladies with luminescent skirts are also happy that they made it to the finish: “Our logo is blue. So these luminous blue skirts are absolutely fantastic. It was tough, and hard work, but we made it”, they say proudly.
Another participant says that he sees this tour only as a warm-up: “I’ll be back tomorrow!”, he says enthusiastically.
