The 30-year-old IJmuide resident, who worked in the Amsterdam port, died last Sunday evening in a boating accident in the North Sea Canal, near the Afrikahaven. A 24-year-old Haarlem resident also died.
Van Overeem was a member of the F-side for years and a well-known face of the hard core, who knew him better by his nickname ‘Paddy’.
Atmospheric event with fireworks
Halfway through the first half of Ajax – SC Heerenveen, the supporters’ group, which stands in a large supporters’ box behind one of the goals, started an atmospheric campaign.
After the applause, torches and flares were also lit, after which the referee decided to stop the match. So the players went inside. The match has now resumed.
