Atlético Madrid have joined Udinese Calcio’s Nahuel Molina on the right flank. As the “Colchoneros” announced on Thursday, an agreement was reached with the Italian first division club about a transfer. The 24-year-old will sign a five-year contract, they say. The Argentine international, who has 16 games for the national team in his résumé, is leaving Udine after two years.
In 2020 he came to Udine on a free transfer from Boca Juniors II, where he immediately established himself as a regular. Last season he was one of the biggest gainers in market value in Serie A and in the most recent update in June he was up from 10 million euros to currently 20 million euros, making him the most valuable professional in the squad. He scored eight goals and five assists in 37 games across all competitions. According to the “mark“, the transfer fee for the right foot amounts to 20 million euros and could rise to up to 25 million euros due to possible bonuses. Atlético only paid a higher base amount for a right-back player in 2019, when Kieran Trippier (31) joined from Tottenham for €22m. After Samuel Lino (22) and Axel Witsel (33), Molina is the third signing of the capital city.
A year ago, the Madrid team signed Rodrigo de Paul (28), an Argentinian from Udinese, and made the most expensive departure in the history of the Italian club with a transfer fee of 35 million euros.
