Second most valuable player on the team
José María Giménez remains loyal to Atlético Madrid. The central defender, who was originally contracted until 2025, has signed a new working paper until June 2028. The LaLiga club announced this on Friday evening. Giménez moved to Madrid from Danubio FC in his native Uruguay in 2013 and has since played 290 games for the “Colchoneros”, in which he has scored 22 goals.
Only homegrown player Koke (31) has been at the club longer than the right-footed player, who has been part of the squad for a decade and is the second most valuable professional in the team with a market value of 35 million euros.
