Favorite Bo Kanda Lita Baehre prevailed in the men’s pole vault ahead of his big competitor Oleg Zernikel and sent an exclamation mark to the international competition with 5.90 meters.

The pole pinch competition was top class: the two top favorites Bo Kanda Lita Baehre and Oleg Zernikel entered the competition at 5.50 meters. Surprisingly there were still four jumpers at 5.70 meters. Gillian Ladwig finally failed at the 5.75 meters – but could still be happy about a significant increase in his personal best.

favorites among themselves

That left the distribution of the podium places: Torben Blech from Leverkusen failed at 5.75 meters and was happy about bronze. In the end, Baehre and Zernikel were the winners. Zernikel had to submit more due to a failed attempt. He tore the first attempt over 5.80 meters and then 5.85 meters. Lita Baehre, on the other hand, mastered the 5.80 meters and put his competitors under pressure.

Zernikel ran up, had the altitude, but still caught the bar. So Lita Baehre cheered as the last starter in the field – and then showed a small jump show: First he managed 5.85 meters and was then able to increase again by five centimeters to a new personal jump.

Hess wins in the triple jump

As expected, defending champion Max Hess won in the Mönner triple jump with 16.20 meters. He had already entered the race as a title candidate in advance. Second was Paul Waschburger from Munich with 15.53 meters ahead of Felix Mairhofer from Mannheim with 15.52 meters.
