Athletics: Javelin thrower Vetter threatens World Cup

The former javelin throwing world champion Johannes Vetter is apparently threatened with the end of the World Championships in Athletics in Budapest (19th to 27th August). This was reported by “Sport1” on Wednesday.

Vetter also confirmed to the broadcaster that he would miss the German championships in Kassel next weekend. The 30-year-old suffered a “repeat setback” and will be absent for “health reasons”, according to the Sport1 report.

Vetter, world champion of 2017 and German record holder, only made his comeback at the beginning of June in Hengelo in the Netherlands after almost a year’s break from competition. A stubborn shoulder injury had slowed the Offenburger. He therefore missed the World Championships in Eugene and the European Championships in Munich.
