Status: 06/14/2022 8:17 p.m

The German javelin throwers Julian Weber and Andreas Hofmann missed the top places at the high-class meeting in Turku.

Weber threw 84.02 meters in Finland and finished fifth. The Olympic fourth had recently managed 89.54 meters. Hofmann did not get past the disappointing 76.19 meters and thus only ended up in tenth and last place in the world-class field.

The Finnish local hero Oliver Helander won with 89.83 meters ahead of Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra from India, who threw 89.30 meters. Third was world champion Anderson Peters from Grenada with 86.60 meters.

The javelin throwers around Johannes Vetter, who was recently on a break due to technical and physical problems, are among the greatest hopes in German athletics at the two highlights of the season. First up is the World Championships in Eugene, USA, in a month’s time, followed by the European Championships in Munich in mid-August.
