Richard Douma, Khalid Choukoud, Diane van Es and Jill Holterman are the big Dutch names at the 37th edition of the Dam tot Damloop on Sunday 17 September. The route of the ten English Mile goes from Amsterdam to Zaandam with the finish on the Peperstraat.
For many athletes, the pre-Olympic year is all about reaching the limit (men 2:08.10, women 2:26.50). For example, Richard Douma, Khalid Choukoud and Jill Holterman will participate in the Amsterdam Marathon on Sunday 15 October. The Dam tot Damloop is an interesting measurement moment for them.
Olympic limit
It will be quite a challenge for Douma to reach the Olympic limit. This year, the 30-year-old Zaankanter improved his best marathon time to 2:11.21. That means that he has to run more than three minutes faster, but first the Dam tot Damloop is on the program. “The Dam tot Damloop is my home race”, says Douma. “And I’m really looking forward to being here again!”
Luuk Maas, Noah Schutte, Tom Hoogeboom, Stan Niesten (Beverwijk), Maarten Hindriks, Remyo Tielsema, Stan Schipperen, Frank Futselaar and Tom Hendrikse are the main competitors for Douma.
Holterman
Holterman already participated in the Olympic Games in Tokyo and hopes to participate in the largest sporting event in the world for the second time in Paris next year. For the athlete from Egmond aan den Hoef, the Dam tot Damloop also feels like a home race. “I’ve been participating from an early age. I’m looking forward to doing this fun competition with the home crowd in preparation for the Amsterdam Marathon.” Hilterman will compete against Andrea Deelstra, Silke Jonkman, Ruth van der Meijden and Tirza van der Wolf on Sunday 17 September.
Weekend
In addition to the Dam tot Damloop and Damloop by night, the Dam tot Dam Walking Tour will also take place on Saturday 16 September and the Dam tot Dam Bicycle Classic on Sunday 17 September. In total, about 70,000 participants will participate in this weekend.
Registration for the various components is currently still open and closes on Monday 4 September.
NH News will of course also be there this weekend. With a live broadcast on Sunday 17 September.
