Athletes auction collector’s items: 7,750 euros for Van der Poel’s jersey

During the first ever TeamNL Auction, generous bids were made on memorabilia of Brabant athletes. Think of Mathieu van der Poel’s golden coffee cup, an art riding clinic by Lindsay van Zundert, or Marianne Vos’ helmet. Thousands of euros have been bid, all for charity.

Forty objects were placed on the Catawiki auction site, so that sports enthusiasts could bid on their collector’s item to their heart’s content.

For example, 7,750 euros were bid for a signed rainbow jersey from cyclist Mathieu van der Poel, which gave him the highest bid of the entire auction. With his golden coffee cup and an accompanying barista workshop, he raised 495 euros.

Track cyclist Harrie Lavreysen from Luyksgestel and his teammates even donated a signed handlebar, with which they collected 950 euros for charity.

Marianne Vos’ helmet
Among the ladies, figure skater Lindsay van Zundert managed to raise the most, with 370 euros for a personally given figure skating clinic. Cyclocross rider Marianne Vos auctioned her helmet for a tenner less. The signed head protector, worn during the Olympic Games in Tokyo, raised 360 euros.

Last but not leastskater Ireen Wüst raised 197 euros with a signed TeamNL shirt and Paralympic rider Sanne Voets from Rosmalen auctioned a signed champion horse blanket for 84 euros.

All money from the auctions goes to the Youth Sports & Culture Fund.
