Sofie Dokter finished as the best Dutch in the prestigious heptathlon in Götzis, Austria. The 20-year-old athlete of Groningen Athletics is in seventh place after the seven parts with a personal best of 6321 points.
Dokter met the qualification requirement (6254 points) for the world championship in August in Budapest with this total of points.
She can look back on an excellent heptathlon; she set a new personal best in five parts. She ran the 100m hurdles in 13.51 seconds, her bullet came to a distance of 13.38 meters, she sprinted the 200 meters in 23.68 seconds, her javelin flew to a distance of 43.18 meters and the final 800 meters she ran in 2 minutes and 16.12 seconds. She was unable to sharpen her top performances in the high (1.80 meters) and long jump (6.24 meters) components.
American Anna Hall won the competition. She came to 6988 points.
Dokter had a best heptathlon score of 6144 points to her name so far. She achieved this number in June last year in Apeldoorn. This also allows her to participate in the European championship for athletes up to the age of 23. This is in July in Espoo, Finland.
