ANDlisabetta Lamboglia, 42, graduated with honors from La Sapienza in Rome in Astronautical Engineering and then in International Relations at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Committed to accelerating the transition to a more sustainable space sector, deals with Earth observation projects and missions at theEuropean Space Agency (ESA) as Cost Engineer and Strategic Coordinator for Climate and Sustainability. Engaged in the field of equal opportunities, she is part of the 100 Esperte group (100esperte.it) with one goal: to enhance professional women in building the future. For sixteen years he has lived in the Netherlands, today in The Hague, the city of Peace.

«The first check: I have two diaries, one professional and the other for the family. I read the commitments and prepare myself to face the day. Then together with my partner, Antonio, I take Alice and Lara to school. We like to do it together: during the journey we chat, laugh, make plans. It’s the most exciting moment of the day.”

«I walk towards the office, passing embassies, organizations and international courts: I feel at the center of the action. I manage working groups for the decarbonisation of the European Space sector. I have worked for more than 60 Space Missions, including Prisma for the Italian Space Agency, which has been in orbit since 2019 providing data for environmental monitoring. Working also with foreign delegations, with the world of industry, universities and with members of the European Commission allows me to have an overall vision for objectives such as the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions”.

«I evaluate the budgets of the projects and I deal with the negotiations of contracts of several million euros. The focus is the monitoring of environmental safety by Sentinelle satellites. They have various applications: the implementation of sustainable agriculture techniques, the observation of the melting of ice, the monitoring of ocean health. They also support climate emergencies and natural disasters. Another aspect of the work concerns the New Spaceone of the fastest growing sectors worldwide: revolutionary reduction of costs and times, and very fast construction of small satellites, with low technological risk and very high socio-economic return, with activities such as biomass and atmospheric monitoring”.

“I’ll join the girls at home. Music is our heaven. We dance listening to Daft Punk and Radiohead, then I prepare dinner and Antonio the aperitif. On Friday, however, all out. We are crazy about sushi and, like good Italians, about pizza. Sometimes the girls ask me if I’ve met an astronaut or if I’m going to travel on a spaceship».
