At this rate, Pavlidis will reach 48 hits: “Would be very special”

At the training complex in Wijdewormer, Pascal Jansen looks at the remainder of Ajax – Feyenoord with mixed feelings. The AZ coach follows all the football with great interest, but is very sorry about last Sunday’s situation. “Nobody benefits from this, because these are two wonderful clubs.”

In a week and a half, AZ itself will visit Ajax in the Johan Cruijff Arena, but Pascal Jansen is not going to analyze the Amsterdam team yet. There are three other posters on the program first. Starting tomorrow evening against Heracles. “They are back in the Premier League and we always wait to see how they do. So far they have played a number of excellent matches and are in a respectable ninth place.”

Pavlidis

An important link at AZ this season is Vangelis Pavlidis. The Greek striker strings together the goals. After five competition games he has seven goals and if the attack leader continues this average, he will have 48 goals. “That would be very special,” said a laughing Jansen about his goalgetter. “He has gotten better every season, I think that is a unique quality.”

Martins India

It is not only Pavlidis who walks around the Alkmaar club with a smile. Bruno Martin’s Indi also shines from ear to ear again. The central defender spent a year recovering from an upper leg injury. Last weekend he finally returned to action. “He is now really part of the selection again,” Jansen says about Martins Indi. This season he opts for Alexandre Penetra and Riechedly Bazoer in the center back. “He’ll have to fight his way back in.”
