At the rally with the customer’s Audi RS7: stolen and destroyed

A stunt by a hotel valet who took possession of a customer’s Audi to go to a local car rally ends badly

He goes to the rally with the car entrusted to him shortly before by the client of the hotel where he worked, but three of them steal it and destroy it. We are not talking about the American TV series of the 70s, but about what happened about two months ago at the elegant Pendry Hotel in Baltimore (United States). The victim’s name is Brian Eller, new owner of a brand new car Audi RS7 from around $120,000, who had decided to treat himself to a stay in Maryland. Upon arrival, Eller handed over the keys to his car to the hotel valet, who evidently couldn’t resist the allure of the German sedan to take it to a car rally in Canton a few hours later. For karma, it ends in the worst way: taking advantage of a distraction, three participants in the rally steal the RS7, which the police find destroyed the next morning. The hotel guest hears the manager himself knocking on the door of her room: “We have bad news for you, our valet stole your car.”

who pays?

As mentioned, the car found was practically destroyed, with extensive damage to the bodywork, to the mechanical components and, as if that wasn’t enough, with an overturned petrol can inside the trunk. The matter should be easily resolved by the hotel’s insurance, which invited Eller to stay for free in the future to erase the memory of the incident. The epilogue for the probable former hotel employee, accused of theft by the Baltimore Police, is decidedly more bitter.
