At least ten killed in street fighting after Israeli army raid in Palestinian city of Nablus

An Israeli army raid on the Palestinian city of Nablus, in the West Bank, sparked street fighting in broad daylight on Wednesday, killing at least 10 Palestinians. International news agencies report this, based on Palestinian authorities. Among the deceased are a 72-year-old man and a 14-year-old boy. Another 102 people were injured, according to the Palestinians, including as a result of flying bullets.

The Israelis confirmed that they had raided Nablus, a city where Palestinian activism is prevalent, but provided scant details. Israel’s army is making more frequent raids there, it says to quell militant groups.

According to news medium Al Jazeera On Wednesday morning, after entering Nablus, the army blocked all access roads to the city, after which it surrounded a house where two wanted Palestinian fighters were housed. Both died. Palestinian armed groups then approached the operation and confronted the Israeli soldiers present.

At least 60 Palestinians, including 13 children, have been killed by Israeli forces in Israeli-occupied territories this year. Ten Israelis and one Ukrainian were killed in Palestinian attacks, according to the Israeli Foreign Ministry.
