At least 16 people have died for the assault perpetrated on Friday by terrorists from the Al Shabaab group on a central hotel in the capital of Somalia, Mogadishu, according to a preliminary balance that is not considered closed, since this Saturday morning the police operations had not yet concluded.
Police sources cited by Garowe Online have assured that 16 people have died, while among the wounded several Somali Police and Intelligence officials who were inside the hotel would appear.
The terrorists have dug in throughout the night in the facilities, which they accessed by shooting and after perpetrating several explosions in the vicinity of the centrally located Hotel Hayat, frequented by Somali authorities.
The assault is unprecedented in recent months and would be the first of this magnitude launched by Al Shabaab in the capital since the Somali president, Hasan Sheikh Mohamud, He took office in early June.
