At least 15 dead in heavy collision in central Canada | Abroad

The accident happened on the Trans Canada Highway, the highway that crosses the entire country. According to local media, a semi-trailer truck and an elderly transport van collided at an intersection. Images show how certain one of the vehicles caught fire. The crash is one of the deadliest road accidents in recent Canadian history.

According to regional police chief Rob Hill, the bus carrying about 25 people collided with a small truck. Fifteen people were said to have died, Hill said. Mostly the elderly were on the bus. According to police, the drivers of the vehicles were still alive. Police have not yet said who caused the crash

The emergency services in the area have been turned out en masse. Two helicopter ambulances have also been deployed to transport victims to hospitals in the region.

“Incredibly tragic,” Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau called the news. “I extend my deepest condolences to those who have lost loved ones today and my thoughts are with those injured,” he wrote on Twitter.
