At least 14 children and a teacher killed in Texas elementary school shooting

At least 14 children and a teacher were killed in a shooting at an elementary school in the US state of Texas on Tuesday. This has been announced by Texan Governor Greg Abbott, international news agencies report. The perpetrator, according to Abbott an 18-year-old man, would also have died. The shooting started just after noon local time at Robb Elementary School in the town of Uvalde, about 135 kilometers west of the city of San Antonio.

Uvalde Memorial Hospital said it had admitted 13 children with various injuries after the shooting. A man, about 40 years old, was also brought in with unknown injuries. An adult and a child who were present at the shooting arrived at a hospital in San Antonio, the hospital reports Twitter† The adult, a 66-year-old woman, was in critical condition.

The motive of the perpetrator is not yet known. Robb Elementary School has just under 600 students. Pupils who have been rescued are reunited with their parents at a community center.
