“At home I have to hide chocolate, otherwise my stash will be gone in no time”

In her foreword, editor-in-chief Hilmar Mulder tells each week what strikes her in the magazine.

I don’t turn down a nice Easter egg easily. The only bad thing is that my housemates also know what to do with chocolate. I myself do a week with a bar of chocolate or a week and a half with a bag of Easter eggs. But once they have their eye on it, my stash is swallowed up in record time. Especially when my two now semi-adult sons still lived at home, it was quite a challenge to hide the Easter eggs in such a way that a: they would not be able to find them and b: I still knew where I had hidden them. Lucky the sons are, like my husband, on the lazy side when it comes to searching, so as long as I shoved that bag somewhere deep in the closet, that was usually enough. It was a matter of waiting for the moment that no one saw or heard it (the crackling of a bag can sometimes be enough to betray the presence of chocolate) and I could enjoy my stash every day undisturbed.

At the Libelle editors there is no need to hide the stock of Easter eggs and even if we wanted to, we can’t. Around mid-March, boxes full of the most exotic flavors arrived, all because of our scientific research entitled: The Great Dragonfly Easter Eggs Test. A schedule was drawn up: whether we wanted to taste the white Easter eggs with and without filling on Monday afternoon and give them a grade. Yes, working at Libelle is sometimes really hard… Tuesday dark, Wednesday milk and Thursday turned out to be a weird-tasting day with, among other things, lemon meringue, milk-carrot cake, chai-latte and the new classic caramel-sea salt. I’m a creature of habit: after all these years, dark chocolate is still my favorite flavor. Preferably without the praline filling (I think it’s weird blubber) and with the standard red foil around it, because otherwise I’ll lose my leg.

I wish you a happy and chocolate-rich Easter.
