Asylum seekers walk on the highway, looking for a supermarket

The police took two walking people off the A58 near Oirschot on Saturday evening. The couple turned out to be on their way to a supermarket.

Police had received several reports of people walking on the highway. In the vicinity of Oirschot, agents indeed encountered a man and a woman. They only spoke Arabic, the police said.

With the help of an interpreter, it became clear that the two were on their way from the asylum seekers center in Oirschot. They wanted to go to a supermarket.

Officers have explained that walking on the highway is life-threatening. After that, the duo was returned to the asylum seekers’ center in Oirschot.
