A 42-year-old asylum seeker who was staying in the asylum seekers’ center in Sweikhuizen deliberately threw hot oil over two employees. He said he was afraid of being deported from the country.
This Tarek S., born in Kuwait and raised in Iran, has stated that he would rather be in a Dutch prison than return to Iran.

Exit Sweikhuizen
In the run-up to the incident on January 27 of this year, Tarek is said to have been told that he had to leave the asylum seekers’ center in Sweikhuizen. At least that’s what he stated to the police. In a fit of panic he decided to throw hot oil over two asylum seekers. They were both seriously injured and still struggle with physical and mental complaints.
Heart and soul
“My client’s recovery process is still ongoing,” says personal injury attorney Nino Pennino. “She has been treated in a burns center in Aachen. To this day she has not been able to work, she is incapacitated for work. She is also just doing badly mentally. She worked there with all her heart and soul and is now scarred for life. “
Colleague lawyer Reint Ruiter, who represents the other victim, also speaks of ‘severe burns’ in his client. “And permanent scar tissue, that’s for sure. She is also still incapacitated for work and is seriously concerned about her future.”
no lawyer
Tarek, meanwhile, makes no effort to get out of prison. He has appeared in court once so far and did so without a lawyer. The forty-year-old indicated for a long time that he did not want a lawyer. However, the court has doubts about his psyche and so he is assigned a lawyer. “But I have no interest in going out,” Tarek emphasizes.
