Several municipalities in Brabant have announced that they will offer emergency shelter to refugees in the coming months. Woensdrecht and Bergen op Zoom do this for the Central and West Brabant Security Region, and the municipality of Heeze-Leende for the Brabant-Southeast region.
Crisis emergency shelters are desperately needed, now that there are insufficient regular shelters available for refugees. That is why municipalities are now being called upon to provide temporary shelter places.
Several municipalities in our province have already responded to this call. Refugees have already been received in Loon op Zand, Oirschot and Waalre, among others. Woensdrecht, Bergen op Zoom and Heeze-Leende are now joining them.
Sports hall
From 1 to 28 August, 85 asylum seekers in Woensdrecht can go to the multifunctional center Kloosterhof. The same group will then move to Bergen op Zoom. There is still a search for a suitable location. They will also stay there for several weeks.
In Heeze-Leende there are even slightly more refugees. From August 3, 100 refugees will be accommodated in sports hall De Pompenmaker.
