The BoerBurgerBeweging puts forward Astrid Nienhuis as a scout in Drenthe. Nienhuis is mayor of Heemstede.
BBB asked Nienhuis, who was also a public prosecutor, to investigate which parties could form a coalition together.
Gert-Jan Schuinder, leader of BBB Drenthe’s list, is happy with the choice. ,,With Nienhuis we have an explorer with administrative experience and neutrality”, he says.
Schuinder explains that the scout has been appointed by the national party leadership. Anyone in the party could pass on names of candidates. Nienhuis came out on top for Drenthe.
Why does the BBB, as a party with roots in the region, choose an scout from outside? That is not a conscious choice, explains Schuinder. “Just as it is not a conscious choice not to go for someone from their own region. This was just the best match.”
