Third most expensive club purchase
Aston Villa and Ollie Watkins go into extra time together. As the “Villans” announced, the striker has signed a new long-term contract – reportedly until 2028. The 27-year-old’s previous working paper was valid until June 2025. Watkins moved from Brentford FC to fifth-placed Aston Villa in 2020 for 34 million euros , making it the most expensive purchase in the club’s history for a time. The offensive man has now been replaced by Moussa Diaby and Emiliano Buendía.
In the current season, Watkins has seven goals and three assists in twelve games across all competitions. In the upcoming Premier League market value update, the English international striker will be able to increase his career high of €40 million once again.

“I feel like this is the best place for me to play football. “I still have a lot to achieve here,” explained Watkins (50 goals/16 assists in 128 matches for Aston Villa). “You can see the direction the club is going and I want to be a part of it.”
