Aston Villa have extended the contract of central defender Tyrone Mings, which was originally scheduled to run until 2024. The 29-year-old signed a new working paper in eleventh place in the Premier League, the exact term of which the club initially gave no information.
“He has become a pillar at the heart of Villa’s defense and has made the leap to the national team,” the Villans said in a statement. Mings moved from Bournemouth to Birmingham in 2019 and has played 149 competitive games for the club since then. The left-footed player could complete the 150 against Arsenal on Saturday (from 1:30 p.m. in the TM live ticker). Mings made his debut for the “Three Lions” in autumn 2019 and has played 17 international matches since then, but was not part of coach Gareth Southgate’s squad at the last World Cup in Qatar. With his current market value of 25 million euros, the defender is one of the most valuable players in the Unai Emery squad.
