Assize dune murder: accused denies any involvement
On August 1, 2010, Milena Raycheva disappears when she wants to travel to England with Kenan B.. He does not file a complaint until 20 days later. He thought she had returned to Bulgaria.
“I thought she was going to show up somewhere in France or with her parents,” Kenan B said in court this morning. “I never believed it when they said Milena wasn’t in Bulgaria. I thought she was there and they hid her.”
“Prefabricated Accusations”
However, the body of the young woman had already been found on 17 August in the dunes of Zeebrugge. The 57-year-old Dutch Turk had started a relationship with her after his divorce. A turbulent relationship with many fights, according to acquaintances. “Where do these accusations come from? Who is claiming that? Who has seen that? I believe that these people do not know what they have said because of fear,” says B.. “Those fabricated accusations will not come until the investigators have been in Bulgaria in 2013.”
Today the first of thirty witnesses will speak. The verdict will be announced at the end of next week. Kenan B goes for the acquittal, but risks life imprisonment.
