Assenaar Waalkens is also on the BBB candidate list for the House of Representatives

With Derk-Evert Waalkens, the BoerCurgerBeweging (BBB) has put a second Drent on the draft candidate list for the House of Representatives elections. He is in 24th position.

In daily life, Waalkens is a course leader and advisor at the educational organization TerraNext in Eelde, a training company for the agricultural sector in the Northern Netherlands. He is also a specialist in crop protection, botany and sustainable cultivation. Waalkens was in fourth place on the BBB list during the previous House of Representatives elections, in 2021.

Last week it was announced that Saskia van der Meer-Hartogh from Meppel has a chance to represent the BBB in the House of Representatives. She is in position 18 on the provisional list of candidates.

In the election manifesto, the party writes that the Netherlands must become a ‘Naoberstaat’ in which the government acts as a neighbor. Furthermore, the nitrogen law must be overhauled and a Ministry of Regional Affairs must be created. The BBB also wants good care for young transgender people, an asylum quota and high profits in the business community. The program must later be approved by members.

BBB also wants an elected mayor, once the crown jewel of D66, and corrective referendums. Furthermore, the Senate must be elected directly, instead of by the Provincial Council. BBB also wants the king back in the formation process.
