A 51-year-old man from Assen has been sentenced to three years in prison for raping his 14-year-old daughter. One year of this is conditional.
The judge finds it proven that the man abused his daughter several times in June and July. This would have happened in the context of sex education. The man acted calculatedly, the judge said. The girl was forbidden by her father to say anything about this to her mother.
The judge blames the man for abusing his paternal role. The man partially acknowledged the abuse. To a lesser extent than his daughter reported to the police. But the court finds the child’s statement more reliable. “He had no regard for his daughter’s interests,” the judge said.
The Public Prosecution Service demanded a prison sentence of 42 months two weeks ago. The judge took more into account the man’s personality disorder and autism in the ruling. In addition, he had an alcohol problem at the time. The Assenaar has not previously been convicted of a sexual offense.
